Spring Creek Farms

Spring Creek Farms is a partnership between Siblings Andy and Jessica Chamberlin with their neighbour Brad Anderson.  They are located at the edge of the Tiger Hills just South of Cypress River. They specialize in custom processing and delivery of delicious pasture raised meat products.

Currently they are preparing to move to our brand new meat shop at 161 Railway Ave in Cypress River, MB. Until then they will continue to operate out at the Anderson Family Farm.  At their meat shop, they can produce almost any meat product you could ever ask for. You will find their products at premium locations such as at Cramptons Market, St. Leons Farmers Market and at Stella’s Restaurant. They are also members of the Harvest Moon Local Food Initiative with distribution in Winnipeg and Brandon.

Spring Creek Farms has many individual cuts for direct sale, a bulk subscription program and also do custom butchering of whole animals. People can either pick up meat directly from the shop, or they do have regular deliveries all over Manitoba.  Most of their product is inspected and for direct sale, but we do also specialize in emergency animal harvest, hunted animals and custom processing of locally farmed livestock.

On the farm, they raise grass fed beef, pasture pork, sheep, pasture chicken and pasture turkey. They also have partners who raise bison. The farms raise these animals using holistic management which is a decision making model with soil health as the main focus. The livestock are allowed to exhibit all of their natural behaviours on our pastures and are constantly moved to fresh ground. This is how they are able to successfully raise healthy animals without the use of antibiotics or chemical dewormers or any hormones. The animals grow slowly and eat a much more natural diet in our system which gives the meat delicious rich, deep flavours and textures.

When you buy from Spring Creek Farms, you can feel good about supporting local farm families who are active in the surrounding communities. You can feel good that the animals live a happy life and are used to regenerate the environment. You can also be assured that our meat is among the healthiest, most nutrient dense and flavourful meat you can eat.  Come and visit them out at the farm, they look forward to feeding your family!

Adagio Acres

Adagio Acres is a small, certified organic, family farm located in one of the many forgotten corners of Manitoba (i.e. the interlake), where the land itself has room to stretch out its arms and wild asparagus outnumbers people a hundred to one.  We like to think that farming is what allows us to abandon the structure of four walls and schedules for the unpredictable chaos of farming and entrepreneurship.  Our children are a big part of everything that we do, and they are along for field inspections, product development, deliveries (they love stocking shelves and putting price stickers on packages), and everything in between.

The main crop that we grow are naked, or hulless, oats.  These are an ancient grain variety of oats that do not require heat processing when they are being milled, leaving an oat that can be used for porridge or other oat-y kitchen adventures, but that is less altered from it’s original state.  We then mill these oats into rolled, steel cut, or quick cooking form, or leave them whole to be used as a rice-like substitute.

In 2019, we also started up a new project where “leftover” organic grains and pulses from other organic farms around the province are rounded up, cleaned in our oat mill, and made available for consumers here in Manitoba.  In the grain farming world, any harvest of less than about 10,000 lbs is considered too small to be able to transport to a processor, so these “small” batches often become on-farm food loss.  Our project aims to reduce this food-loss and make the incredible food that was grown here, more available for Manitobans.  These lentils, beans, cornmeal, and miscellaneous “other” crops are available through our winter grain CSA.

The Honey Mine at Cooks Creek

Its our opinion that the bees do it best! That’s why we package only pure raw honey in every jar. Our honey is typically a blend of sunflower, sweet clover, canola, and wildflower, offering a light appearance and flavour. This means that our customers always get raw honey packed with the absolute minimum processing possible in order to maintain all the benefits of raw!

Our a small, family-run, apiary is located near Cooks Creek in the Rural Municipality of Springfield, Manitoba. The long hours of prairie sunlight, combined with a variety of high quality foraging sources, during our (relatively) short summers mean that our bees can provide us with 75 kg or more (150-175 lbs) of beautiful light-coloured honey per hive!We believe in using all the goodness the bees have to offer. That’s why we started our hand-crafted and all natural skin care products in the first place! Our aim is to produce small batches of natural skin care products using high quality ingredients including beeswax and raw honey from our very own hives. We are committed to making all products by hand to ensure every unit meets our high standards

Eddlewood Farm

Chris was born and raised in Rosenort Manitoba, Jennifer in the Ottawa Valley. Both coming from rural backgrounds and having lived in the city of Winnipeg for ten years, they decided they both wanted to move back to their rural roots.  They purchased a farm and moved to Warren, Manitoba in May, 2016 where they could raise their children, live a more self sustainable life, and provide others with food grown using organic practices.

They use only organic seed, soil and fertilizer. They do not spray their crops. They are working hard every season to further improve the health of their soil through minimal soil disturbance, cover crops and organic and regenerative practices.

Stony Hill Farm

Stony Hill Farm features pastured eggs, from hens that graze a lush mixture of grasses and legumes, under chicken tractors that are moved each day. Nutrients from the plants and protein from the insects make their way into the yolks of these eggs, which the customers of Stony Hill Farm claim to be the most delicious they’ve ever tasted.
Brenda Tjaden and her three children started the farm in 2019 with a rotational grazing project on vegetable gardens. Brenda is a passionate student of regenerative agriculture and works with leading farms and food companies from around the world through her company Sustainable Grain Ltd., and together with her children, offer youth learning opportunities to children of all ages that want to tour their farm and connect with nature while learning about the food system.
New in 2020, Stony Hill Farm is offering U-Pick Wild Saskatoons. The berries will be ready in early July.

Borderland Agriculture

Borderland Agriculture is owned and operated by Brooks and Jen White along with our two young children, Sawyer & Piper. Found in the extreme southwestern corner of Manitoba, we are a 5th generation family farm with a location at Lyleton and Pierson. The name of the farm represents the location with the land bordering both Saskatchewan and North Dakota. The farm is always busy with the diversity of enterprises and at times of the year involves a “Farm-ily” of 8 people all working towards the vision of our operation, “Regenerate”.

As part of our vision of regeneration, the main focus on the farm is integrating bison production into a diverse cropping system. Our total land base is 7500 acres with 5000 of that being annual crop production. Close to 600 bison are integrated into the farm which are helping to build healthy soils and add value to the operation.

Visitors are welcomed to the farm at any time and are invited to discover our world throughout our website and social media.

Peters Market Garden

Peters Market Garden is a 2nd generation family-operated vegetable farm.  It is owned and operated by Marlin & Deb Peters on their acreage north of Virden, Manitoba.  The operation is highly labour intensive and we employ our own teenage daughters, as well as many local students.

Our high quality produce is available at local farmers markets in Virden and Oak Lake Beach.  We also allow customers to pre-order online at www.petersmarketgarden.ca, with various pickup and delivery options.  Upon completion of fall harvest, we also provide fall/winter delivery into most rural communities in Southwestern Manitoba and Southeastern Saskatchewan.  For 2020, we will also be experimenting with a weekly CSA distribution.

We grow a wide variety of vegetables including tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic, onions, beans, peas, sweet corn, potatoes, carrots, beets and many more.  We are well known for having some of the sweetest corn available and our pickling customers love the availability of large quantities of gherkin size cucumbers for dill pickles.

We have been serving Virden and area since 1978 with quality home-grown vegetables.  Locally grown food is more important than ever.  We have always offered the very best in customer service and we guarantee freshness!!!

Elm Rock Farm

Elm Rock Farm is a small, first-generation, vegetable farm located on Treaty 3 Territory, in the boreal shield ecozone. Preserving the biodiversity of plants, animals, and insects on our land is of the utmost importance to us, which is why we grow our produce on a small scale, relying primarily on manual labour instead of machinery, without the use of synthetic chemicals or fertilizers and with minimal tillage.

The farm is owned and operated by Hannah and Jason, we both grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but have always felt a deep connection with nature. The inspiration to farm came in 2016 when Hannah worked on an organic fruit farm and from there we acquired land and have been working to start this market garden from scratch ever since.

We offer a variety of vegetables as well as value-added products, such as pickles! Our farm strives to create efficiencies through a closed loop system that recycles waste into nutrients, fosters biodiversity, and markets our produce close to home so that the food we grow does not have to travel far before reaching your plate.

We are currently only selling our products through CSA vegetable shares, though we have attended markets in the past and will likely do so again in the future.
