Mike and Carolyn Reimer started “Living Well Farm” as a way to teach their five children about work and responsibility. After serving as missionaries in South America for 20 years, the Reimers bought a previously flooded farm in Grande Pointe, built a house together and started rehabilitating the old sheds and granaries. Now they keep very busy caring for their 2000+ spruce landscaping trees, free range laying hens, and small herd of grass fed beef cattle which are moved to fresh pasture every day. Their oldest son, Devan, has ventured into a pumpkin and squash growing business and recently started producing meat chickens on pasture. He just shipped his first batch of 50 to be processed and has a growing customer list.
Gradually we are seeing the farm that was abandoned after the 1997 flood revitalized. The soils are improving and this little farm on the very edge of the Winnipeg city limits is productive once again!
