Profile on Direct Farm Manitoba’s Website

Direct Farm Manitoba’s website lists our member farmers across Manitoba. Visitors to the site can search by region, and find out information about your farm and your contact details.

Promotion

Throughout the season the direct farm marketing sector is promoted through our social media channels, which include our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages. We use images collected from our member farms and farmers’ markets, as well as in house created graphics.

Advocacy

Direct Farm Manitoba is the voice of farmers’ markets and small-scale direct marketing farmers across Manitoba. We advocate on your behalf to grow and strengthen our sector. DFM consults with government, commodity groups, Manitoba Health, and other groups to ensure the viability and sustainability of the sector. Direct Farm Manitoba is also actively involved in various partnerships, such as our membership in Farmers’ for Climate Solutions and the Canadian Farmers’ Market Coalition. These partnerships help to further strengthen the sector.

Reduced Pricing on Events

DFM members receive special reduced pricing on our annual Direct Farm Marketing Conference, and other events Direct Farm Manitoba offers throughout the year.

Events and Programs

Direct Farm Manitoba runs workshops throughout the year for our members, as well as the annual Direct Farm Marketing Conference and Spring Farmers’ Market Coordinator Gathering.

Members are also regularly informed about relevant events happening in the province, including workshops and training opportunities, as well as other opportunities that could be beneficial to their farms.

Farm members selling at participating farmers’ markets can participate in the Manitoba Community Food Currency Program, an initiative of Direct Farm Manitoba.

Direct Farm Manitoba Newsletter

Members receive seasonal newsletters to keep you up to date with what the organization is up to, as well as opportunities and important announcements.

Regular updates

Regular updates are sent out to members on relevant topics such as regulatory topics, available funding, and other items that may be of benefit to our members.

Members only Facebook Group

Members can access the Direct Farm Manitoba members only Facebook group to connect with other direct farm marketers.

Member Insurance Program

Direct Farm Manitoba is working with Hub to provide members with a Member Benefits program- a suite of voluntary benefits for you to take advantage of when you choose to. A unique benefit to your membership with Direct Farm Manitoba, these are offers only

Receive a 10% discount on in-store purchases at all Mark’s stores across Canada, as well as additional savings at special events that Mark’s offers to their preferred customers such as Association members.

Direct Farm Manitoba members receive a free ‘add on’  for their first year with Local Line, an all-in-one sales platform for farmers and producers.

Duuo Insurance: Direct Farm Manitoba has partnered with Duuo On-Demand Insurance to provide coverage for our farm members and vendors at our member markets. Through this partnership, our market vendors will enjoy exclusive rates as well as reliable coverage.

Impact Canopy: Vendors at member farmers’ markets and farm members can enjoy preferred pricing on canopies from Impact Canopy. Find the details by logging into your member portal or contacting your famers’ market.

 

Voting privileges

Members each have a vote at our Direct Farm Manitoba AGM each spring. This is an important time to bring your voice to the table and help steer the direction of the association. Members are also eligible to join the board.

 

In light of the systemic barriers to participation in farming for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), Direct Farm Manitoba is offering a free membership for BIPOC farmers. Please indicate if this applies to you on your membership application, and the membership fee will be waived.

Annual Dues

Annual membership dues for farm members as of January 1, 2024:

Regular Member: $75/year or $140/2 years

New Farmer: $25/year (for a maximum of 3 years)
